A high-level delegation from the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) visited Germany from 14 to 22 October 2026. The visit was organised by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

During their trip, the delegation stopped off in Koblenz to learn about the work of the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine (ICPR), the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change (ICWRGC), the Global Runoff Data Centre (GRDC), and the German Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG).

Dr. Simon Mischel from the GRDC presented the data centre, emphasising the importance of international data exchange. The River Niger is an important river basin, but one for which data is scarce. Future cooperation could help the GRDC to obtain additional discharge data or fill existing data gaps.
